Ghost Tour of Castle Menzies

A NEW EVENT on our calendar, this will be for the lovers of all things that go bump in the night!!
FRIDAY 8TH AUGUST
Historical Coach Tour
9.00am –1.00pm
This year’s historical tour will depart the Weem Church car park. The route will be to Killiecrankie, then down through the pass and on to Dunkeld using the old military road. Returning across the hills to the south of Aberfeldy.
21st Menzies Clan Golf Tournament
1.00pm
Meet at Kenmore Golf Club Pro Shop for 1.30 tee off. Clubs and trolleys may be hired at the Club, please arrange prior to game. Go to Contact Us and select ‘AnnualGolfTournament’ to contact Iain Menzies for enquiries about bookings and arranging hiring.
Tour of the Castle Walled Gardens
2.00 – 3.00pm
A walking presentation of the history, the work and discoveries taking place in the Castle’s Walled Gardens.
Scottish Country Dancing
2.30 – 4.00pm
Beginners of all ages welcome. Come and learn some of the dances performed at the Clan Ceilidh at the Castle.
Bagpiping
3.00 – 4.00pm
A chance to play the bagpipes with some of the Menzies Pipe Band led by the Chief’s Piper.
Castle Tour
4.00 – 5.30pm
Featuring the history of the Clan and the development of the Castle. Meet in front of the Castle if dry, or in the Old Kitchen if wet.
Drinks Reception
7.30pm
Held at the Castle in The Great Room alternatively drinks on the front lawn if the weather is fine.
Clan Formal Dinner
8.00 –11.00pm
Held in the Dewar Room and the Pink Room. Dinner is a sharing roast, served to the table, featuring local Scottish produce.
Wine and other beverages available from the bar. *Raffle tickets for sale.
Dress: smart/formal; Highland dress and Menzies Tartan encouraged.
*Seating plan for friends and families who wish to sit together. Please advise on booking form in ‘Comments’.
SATURDAY 9TH AUGUST
Castle Menzies
9.30am Castle is open to all Clan members.
Clan Society Annual General Meeting
10.00 –11.00am
Held in the Dewar Room at Castle Menzies.
Clan March
11.30am
Assemble at the Castle to march to Weem led by the pipes and on to the Ailean Chraggan Hotel for lunch.
Light Lunch
12.00pm
At the Ailean Chraggan Hotel, in Weem Village.
Atholl & Breadalbane Highland Games
1.30pm
Aberfeldy Showground. Assemble at the entrance to the ring at the Showground for the Clan March. (please remember to wear some Menzies tartan)
Clan Ceilidh
8.00pm-Midnight
The Clan Ceilidh is held inThe Dewar Room. Entertainment and dancing featuring ceilidh stalwarts The Gallivanters.
Full bar provided for purchase of drinks. *Raffle draw.
Dress: Dressy Casual; Informal Menzies Tartans to be worn by members.
SUNDAY 10TH AUGUST
Church Service
10.00 – 11.00am
Attend the Weem Parish Church, located in the Weem Village.
Castle and Shop
10.30am
Open to Members.
Friends of Castle Menzies Lunch
12.00 –2.00pm
The ‘Friends of Castle Menzies’ FOCM members get-together at the Castle. Followed by discussions of FOCM projects at the Castle
